Recipe: Spice Cake

This is a favorite recipe from my mother:

Spice Cake

Sift and combine together:

3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
3/4 tsp nutmeg, ground
3/4 tsp cloves, ground

Add to flour mixture:

3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cup buttermilk

Mix together separately,
then add to flour/milk mixture:

3 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar

Bake in 350 Deg. F. oven
Use floured and lined pan(s)
For oblong pan, bake ~ 35 or 40 minutes
Cupcakes, check at 22-25 minutes
